Congratulations and Thank You
to Cancer Care Hero Candace Henley!
On behalf of Cancer Guardian members, we would like to recognize Candace Henley as this week’s Cancer Care Hero. We are thankful for her community leadership in the face of personal challenge.
Read how Candace is helping the medically underserved communities in Chicago.
“For years, Candace Henley has been a voice for cancer care in the African American church community in Chicago. Candace, who has Lynch Syndrome, has had multiple cancers over the years and has faced poverty as well.
She created The Blue Hat Foundation, a faith-based, colorectal cancer organization whose mission is to educate, raise awareness & find resources for the medically underserved communities.
Recently, a number of colon cancer organizations convened to discuss what can be done during these trying times due to Covid 19.
Candace pushed her message of her community, as people have been disproportionately affected in communities with people of color. I believe the $500 gift card would be put to good use by Candace.”
Do you know amazing people in your community that deserve recognition and appreciation for helping ease the challenges for someone battling cancer in the midst of the pandemic?
Nominate a Cancer Care Hero to be recognized! Each week through June 8, 2020, we will be awarding a $500 Amazon gift card to a selected nominee. Tell us how they’re making the world a better place for us all.
